Ladies' Day

Following the incredible success of Brassed Off in 2017, The Wolverhampton Grand produced Ladies' Day the following year and they invited Alex back to join the cast playing in the ensemble as the family's son.

Running from 13 - 28 July, the play's creator Amanda Whittington (Fisherman's Friends: The Musical, The Thrill of Love) re-worked her script especially for The Grand and moved the setting to the Black Country and Wolverhampton Race Course. As well as adapting the setting, she also made further changes to allow Midlands local Tony Christie, whose music is used in the play, to sing live. The cast was led by television stars Deena Payne (Emmerdale) as Pearl, Cheryl Fergison (EastEnders) as Jan, Emma Rigby (Hollyoaks) as Shelley and Roisin O'Neill (Father Brown) as Linda.

The play follows the above characters who all work together in a fish filleting factory. Their lives seem to begin and end at work but their fortunes start to change when they enjoy an unforgettable day at the races. Swapping hair nets for fascinators, could they strike it lucky and hit the jackpot.
