Over the Summer of 2018, Kilworth House Outdoor Theatre mounted a re-imagined brand-new production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice classic - Joseph.
The production was led by Matthew Jeans (Mary Page Marlow, Kiss Me Quickstep) as Joseph and Shanay Holmes (Oliver!, Miss Saigon) as The Narrator. In this re-working, the children's ensemble (which Alex was a part of) played more of an integrated role in the show and featured in the big dance numbers alongside the adult cast. A small number of the children were selected to feature in each of the smaller numbers as well as coming together at various points. Alex was featured in Potiphar, the titular character of which was played by Paul Hutton (Hairspray, Elf The Musical). Each child also represented a colour of Joseph's coat, Alex being chocolate.
Taking place in the musical's 50th anniversary year, the show was an instant hit. It proved so popular that, just weeks into the run, it extended and played an extra week of performances. The show ended up running 25 July - 8 September.
